New Views on the News

The news at the moment - local or international -  is, on the whole, a depressing and sometimes very frightening read wherever you are, and however you happen to be reading it.  In fact, very often, the only good news is that one is usually only reading about, rather than experiencing, what is happening to other people, somewhere else - in other countries, or other towns, or some other place that is (mentally or physically) a long way away from your own front door.

Unfortunately, for many people living in the United Kingdom at the moment, redundancy and unemployment are never far from the front door.

As ordinary people, there are many events that we cannot hope to influence or change, but occasionally we do get a chance to do something that might make a difference

Get Britain Trading is a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the contribution that small firms make to the UK’s economy.  The Forum of Private Business is lobbying the Government to take action to Get Britain Trading by enabling small businesses to buy and sell more profitably on a local, national and international basis.  And train and employ more people and shorten the lines at the Job Centre..

If you have a small business, your pledge of support to Get Britain Trading means a lot.

Taking the pledge costs nothing except a few moments of your time - and you'll receive a ‘Getting Your Business Trading’ advice booklet (including tips on marketing, access to finance, credit management, training and development, exporting and cost-saving) from the FPB free of charge.  And, via the campaign, you can get in touch with other small businesses, help shed positivity and confidence, share your ideas about what can be done to Get Britain Trading by joining discussions on LinkedIn, and give small firms and the economy a boost.

You can help Get Britain Trading by joining the campaign, spreading the word, and posting the Get Britain Trading logo on your blog or website.  Click the logo to find out more.
